Provence Sketchbook takes the reader through this historically rich region that also boasts some of France’s most breathtaking landscapes. As the first Roman province outside of Italy, Provence has a wealth of architectural styles stretching back through the millennia, and as such, is a fascinating study for visitors.
Evocative watercolours and illuminating commentary combine in this book, bringing to life a variety of Provençal scenes that will prove equally delightful to those familiar with or new to the region.

Fabrice Moireau

Fabrice Moireau is a seasoned traveller who frequently brings back from his journeys sketchbooks that are valuable cultural and ethnographic records in themselves. He is particularly interested in the world’s architectural heritage, and in plants and gardens. In his watercolour paintings Moireau seeks to illustrate his fascination with streets and cityscapes by subtly playing with light and shadows.
Moireau is a graduate of the renowned École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d’Art in Paris.

Philippe Testard-Vaillant

Phillipe Testard-Vaillant, a journalist, was born in Grasse, the “perfume capital of the world”. He currently lives and works in the Côte d’Azur, in Antibes. He is the author of various titles, including Le Guide du Paris Savant and Mon corps, la première merveille du monde. He has also contributed articles to many different magazines, such as Beaux-Arts Magazine, Les Cahiers de Science et Vie and Le Journal du CNRS.

John Burdett

John Burdett was born in Southampton, England hours after his mother got off a ship from Canada. As a result, he has been a victim of the travel bug all his life. France was the first foreign country he visited when his parents took him to Provence at the age of 12. Since then he has revisited countless times and has owned a house there for over a decade. He now divides his time between Bangkok, Thailand and Le Lot, France. He has published five novels, including Bangkok 8, Bangkok Tattoo, and Bangkok Haunts, all available in French and other languages.
