Rome Sketchbook

Fabrice Moireau has painted Rome in watercolors, sketchbook in hand: the ancient ruins, the domes and fountains, but also the ochre facades and the narrow streets where the city continues to live, layering eras without ever sorting them. The text is by Dominique Fernandez, of the Académie française, a professor of Italian and one of France's greatest connoisseurs of the peninsula: his pages are taken from his Dictionnaire amoureux de l'Italie. Two perspectives from lovers of Rome, one with a brush, the other with a pen.
